Legionella in the Region – a Serious Health Risk

Cases of Legionnaires’ disease are currently increasing in Göppingen County. Several patients have already required hospital treatment.

What many don’t know: Legionella bacteria thrive in stagnant, warm water. Older people and those with pre-existing conditions are particularly at risk.

How to protect yourself and others:

• After holidays: flush taps and showers for several minutes

• Before showering: let hot water run first (without standing underneath)

• Keep water heaters set to at least 60 °C (140 °F)

• Regularly clean and descale shower heads & faucet aerators
