About BlueLab

We are a young biotechnology company located in Tübingen, Germany. 

Our expertise is the automation of water analysis for harmful germs (pathogens) for a wide range of applications.
Initially, we focus on the detection of Legionella but extensions to other pathogens and inorganic parameters are in planning as well.

Our self-developed, patent-pending process is the basis for this. Fully automated, it delivers precise quantitative results in a short time and requires no sample preparation or other complex steps.

Our Concept

The problem

  • Legionella are bacteria that find optimal growth conditions in warm and stagnating water.

  • Via aerosols that are formed when showering, using water, in swimming pools or in air conditioning systems, Legionella can be inhaled and cause serious diseases.

  • Previous methods for water analysis are either inaccurate or require approximately 10-14 days to receive the laboratory result.

Our Solution

  • An effective protection against Legionella starts with regular monitoring of the in-house drinking water system.

  • We developed an innovative, patent-pending analysis method for an automated and rapid on-site water analysis for Legionella detection and quantification.

  • Our solution consists of a Lab.XX device, associated consumables (test kits) and our cloud-based online interface.
